Galus is the Latin word for cock and is thought to have given Gaillac its name. The second hypothesis would be its ancient Gallo-Roman name Galhac, meaning fertile. Secret and majestic, fragile and powerful, authentic and contemporary, this land cultivates nuances... and loves to share them with visitors. Epicurean souls will feel the charm of a holiday in this "little Tuscany" of the Tarn, where you let yourself be carried away by the senses. A sunset over the rolling vineyards, a glass of Gaillac wine and... time stands still. You'll feel great!
The winegrowers of Gaillac have worked hard to rediscover the historic grape varieties of the appellation. Discover Braucol, Loin de l'Oeil, Duras and Mauzac, grape varieties that deserve to be tasted.
Situated in the heart of the thousand-year-old Gaillac vineyards, in the Tarn department, in the centre of the Occitanie region, Château de Salettes stands with its towers and surrounding wall in the midst of its vineyards. A charming building full of character, dating from the 13th and 15th centuries, Château de Salettes was the home of the youngest branch of the Toulouse-Lautrec family and later of the d'Hautpoul family. The famous General Jean Joseph Ange d'Hautpoul was born and raised at the Château before becoming a key figure in the Napoleonic Wars.
A former hunting lodge, Château de Terride is located at the gateway to the Grésigne forest, in a protected environment. Alix and Romain welcome you to their estate for a visit combining authenticity, chic and delicacies.
Spend an hour discovering the flora and fauna surrounding Château de Terride. Take your time to breathe, observe and listen, away from the noise and bustle of the city. A walking trail through the woods and vineyards has been specially designed for the whole family.
After several centuries of growing vines on the family land, it was in the 1950s that Maurice Gayrard began producing and selling his own wines. At the time, Domaine Gayrard was one of the very first producers of bottled wine in the Gaillac vineyards. During this "era of the bottle", the family vineyard prospered and grew to 13 hectares of vines. Close to Cordes sur Ciel, on the northern edge of the Gaillac vineyards, the estate is located on an exceptional terroir on the edge of the Causses, a land of oaks, stones and truffles.
We invite you to spend a convivial moment, both historical and oenological, at the heart of this place steeped in history. A tour of the cellars and formal gardens, a visit to the Pigeonnier and a guided tasting session are all ingredients for a great time with family and friends.
